Is there anything specific we can improve on?
All was well until the actual event. Wasn't impressed at all. Never again. I would rather read reviews of who I will be getting first. Sorry but wouldn't use this service again.
Additional comments or suggestions?
DJ was nice enough. That's about it. Arrived late. I've never been asked to pay up front for any dj I've had previously (not from this service). Music selection horrible despite numerous emails with ideas and requests. Most take that and create a theme. Rather then throw in a random song with a bunch of remix, techno, club music. Sorry but just awful. This was a high school graduation party. Nearly every request wasn't available and he needed title and artist. Seemed music knowledge not there with him. Sorry to be so negative. Feel like I wasted money on this service. I've had a dj for $150 for 4 hours that was totally awesome. Unfortunate for me he moved which is how I ended up with this service. Wouldn't do it again. Sorry
DJ RESPONSE: In my defense, I felt set up from the word go and this experience has led me to believe why no one else would take this gig.
1. I was only late because of an accident on the expressway en route to the event. It takes an hour to travel and I wouldve made it in hour before start time if it wasnt for it. However I arrived 30 minutes prior to and was able to set up and go on time.
2. I asked in advance to provide a list of selections to play. Michelle failed to provide a thorough list. What she provided was limited. So I worked with what I had based on her daughter's list. Whatever was on the list was played. The kids had no complaints that I know. Michelle was the only one who had issues with the music chosen by her daughter. The music was clean and whatever I had was played if I had it including YMCA which SHE requested along with 80s music. But then Michelle was cold to me upon arrival, was rude, even purposely did not have the cash balance for me before start time as agreed, making me feel I was going to be set up for failure. And for the record, I do adult parties and am more of an underground DJ which calls for remixes for occasions like this. I received a bad rating because I'm not the average corny DJ shes used to hearing.
3. I even told her that I didnt have the proper lighting kit available due to issues so I used what I could. Even so, there was very limited space to set up the gear. There was a storm on the way later and Michelle tried to convince me to set up in the open instead of under the provided awning but I refused knowing a storm was coming (which it did) and risk damaging my gear.
Aside from my delayed arrival, I will stay in my lane from now on. Bottom line, it wasn't about the music. I got a cold reception the moment she saw the DJ she hired was black.
